Volunteer With Us

One Volunteer. One Girl. A Lifetime Changed.

When Tanja, a volunteer from Germany, joined Elimu Foundation, she didn’t know just how much her decision would impact a life. Tanja worked closely with our team to organize a fundraiser for girls’ education. One of the beneficiaries was Naiya, a bright young Maasai girl from northern Tanzania who was at risk of being forced into early marriage.

Thanks to the funds raised, Naiya was able to escape that fate and join school through the Ndoto Scholarship Fund. Today, she’s in her final year studying Community Development. Naiya’s dream is to return to her village, where she will empower other Maasai girls to claim their right to education and freedom — just like she did.

“If Tanja hadn’t come, I don’t know where I would be. Now I want to be someone’s Tanja.”
— Naiya
